She bought a Tres Terra Europa which she picked up from Michael's Bicycles, (2253 Michael Dr., Newbury Park, CA 91320, Phone 805-498-6633), an authorized dealer of the Europa. Interestingly the bike shop has the same name as the street address. The closest dealer I could find to Santa Monica is Cycle World in Northridge.
Here is one choice bit she posted on her blog that I found interesting about the reasoning behind choosing to ride an ebike instead of a car or conventional bicycle, and with an Angelinos perspective. And drop by her blog and say hi. (smile)
"Driving a 3000 pound car to move a 150-200 pound person is more than a little disproportionate. With the cost of gasoline nearing $4, serious potential for global warming to destroy our civilization, and contention over oil leading the world to the brink of WWIII, we need to reassess our casual use of automobiles. I live in the Los Angeles suburbs. For many years I lived in Washington DC. In DC it was easy to commute to work by bicycle, and that's what I did for much of the time that I lived there. But, LA is so spread out and the traffic so heavy that riding a bike in the city can be daunting. On the other hand LA has the perfect climate for bicycle commuting; it rarely rains and is never too cold. Sometimes though it can be a bit too hot. Then there are the physical barriers. I lived in DC in my thirties, and I will be 55 in a few weeks. I'm overweight and not in the greatest shape, but I do exercise regularly and recent cardio exams show my heart to be in good condition. Currently I live exactly 12.5 miles from my business to which I commute six or seven days a week, sometimes twice in a day. I have decided to ride to work on an electric assisted bicycle."Related Posts:
