Compare commute: E-bike v. Car

This video does a time lapse, side by side, comparison of how long and what it looks like to commute by electric bicycle (AKA e-bike) and a car. The electric bicycle brought the commuter to work in less than one forth of the the time, with some great scenery, sweat-free, and without burning any gasoline, etc.

Commute times:
electric bicycle - - 7 minutes and 20 seconds
car - - - - - - - - - 23 minutes and 11 seconds
(note: both start and end their commute at same locations. the e-bike is at the door to work 16 minutes before the car.)

Film Maker, Suitable Transport comment:

This is the reason why everyone should ride an electric bicycle.

Pretty good :-)

I learned to drive overseas on the left side of the road, but I've been in the USA so long now that it seems weird with these people on the 'wrong' side of the road!

They did not use the same route! It can be done on a manual bicycle using the same route in Southern California on a Monday morning headed into Los Angeles. There is no gridlock on a bike.....

Yes, the bike route is different. That's the point. And yes, you could use a manual pedal-only bicycle, but then you'd get to work all exhausted, sweaty, and stinky (note that he was in his work clothes- No spandex). The benefit of an electric bike is that it assists pedaling and makes the commute easier than just human-powered pedaling alone, and it also makes sure you have a consistent speed for the whole trip. Pedaling at 18 miles per hour for 11 minutes is not as easy-going as riding a pedelec for that same speed and distance.

I prefer cars. Even if bicycles are more movable, I would go by my pretty car only :)
